Dalegarth house is such a pleasant house to look upon, complimented by a beautiful garden. The wild birds are lovingly cared for too, bird feeders strategically placed around the garden which Craig and Clare top up with tasty food. Craig greeted us with a warm, friendly welcome, ensuring we knew all we needed to know for our stay to be a success. Homemade cakes were in supply in reception. The communal room is warm and inviting displaying photographs of the house both before and after. We enjoyed looking upon a wedding photograph of both Craig and Claire, a lovely touch, lots of books and games to be had. Dining area clean and pristine, beautifully set out, cutlery sparkling. Clare cooks a beautiful breakfast, quality of food and variation excellent, not to be missed. Her standard of hygiene was so professional. Small details of our likes and dislikes did not go unnoticed. Bedrooms beautiful! hygiene second to none, comfy mattress and pillows, bedding well laundered. Stunning views from both our windows. Bathroom was immaculate. Craig knew of the weather that day, issues we may come across, places to visit, history and more. Plenty parking space along with CCTV. Dalegarth for us was perfect. Oh and don't forget to ask about the release of Clare's book, can't wait!

Some of our favorite places to stay are the ones where the place and the people running it are one and the same. We didn’t just stay at Dalegarth; we stayed with Clare and Craig. They are a charming couple and they run a top notch hotel. Cleanliness, amenities, breakfast, all the things one expects—they’ve got it all covered. But there’s so much more than that. They have a lounge and bar that you can’t wait to come back to after you’ve been out walking all day. They have pheasants who pop by regularly to amuse you. Clare makes amazing flapjacks. Craig makes thoughtful wood sculpture and is a blast to talk about music with. And the location is perfect. Keswick is busy. It’s really nice to stay somewhere peaceful with a lake and fell view, outside of the bustle in the town. We will definitely stay here again.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING Clare and Craig are the epitome of great hosts and the location is wow wow wow, so convenient for access to everywhere. They were so full of local knowledge and information and made time for anybody with a query. Breakfast was delicious and the daily specials mixed things up nicely. Craig in the dining room and Clare in the kitchen made very smooth running of things, no wait or delay - yum yum. I was in a huge loft room with a double and single bed, couch and chair - it was restful and pleasant. Unfortunately the view was only a bit of the hills through vellum windows, but still very pleasant to wake up to. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture - HIGHLY recommended as a place to stay.

Great independent b&b. Just stopped one night but the hosts were great. I stopped in a single room that was a little cramped but I had expected that. It's a 20min walk to Keswick and much quieter than the town itself.

A little gem of a place. Amazing hosts in Craig and Claire. The house is spotlessly clean, well appointed and nothing was too much trouble - definitely make use of Craig's local knowledge. We saw some fabulous sights that he recommended that we would otherwise have missed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and the cherry on top was the breakfast, Craig and Claire you did us proud. We rarely go back to the same hotel (too many to choose from) but for this one we would make an exception it was that good.

We had a wonderful night stay at Dalegarth house. Our room was clean, comfortable and we loved the beautiful view towards the lake. Location was perfect, Portinscale itself is lovely and then it is just a 20 minute walk along a footpath into Keswick. Breakfast was delicious and the hosts Clare and Craig were very welcoming. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Dalegarth House is a fantastic place. Craig and Claire are wonderful hosts; they are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the local area. They make you feel at home. It's the perfect place to stay while visiting the Lake District, with Keswick town centre just a short walk away. I loved everything about this B&B! The beds are comfortable, and the rooms are spotless. Claire and Craig are incredibly helpful. Their breakfast is exceptional, and their freshly baked, homemade flapjacks are a treat. Tap into Craig's local knowledge. Based on his recommendations, we discovered some hidden gems. I thoroughly recommend Dalegarth House.

Dalegarth House is a beautifully peaceful place to stay. Firstly, the location itself had wonderful views of the mountains and derwentwater lake. It is a very short walk into Keswick and an even shorter drive. The gardens around the house are perfectly kept, and the house itself is stunning. There is free parking which has cctv, which made me feel so much better parking my car. The breakfast room was comfortable and inviting, and the communal lounge was a wonderful touch. They also have a small bar in the communal room which had a huge selection of drinks, something for everyone. The room we stayed in was wonderful, a beautifully modern room which was spotlessly clean. The room was a good size for the two of us and plenty of storage space for all your belongings. The beds were incredibly comfortable, which made for a great night's sleep. The room also had a smart TV meaning we could use netflix while there which was great on the cosy nights in. The hosts, Craig and Claire, were fantastic. Craig was so pleasant and funny and very knowledgeable about the local area. Claires' breakfasts were phenomenal... everything was cooked perfectly, well presented, and generous portions. Both Craig and Claire could not do enough to help and they're both genuinely lovely people. The whole stay was fantastic, I couldn't recommend staying at Dalegarth House more!
